Pigpen

There is a reason that we call Ben, Pigpen. There really is no story behind this one. Just a loving picture. I gave him dinner and well, this is what he looked like when he finished.

Go look at your son

It was moving day. Our stuff had FINALLY arrived from Alaska! Granted it was late, stuff was broken, and other things missing, that didn't matter. Our stuff was here.

I was checking off boxes as they were pulled out, James was in the house telling the movers where to put stuff. Kayla was sitting with me outside and we put Ben in his pack 'n play on the porch. This way he couldn't get under foot, hurt, sun burned (he was in the shade). Perfect plan, so I thought.

He ate lunch and made a huge mess. It was really hot out so we left him in his diaper in the PNP. At about 1:00 things were winding down and everyone was relaxing, taking a moment to eat lunch. I was getting things ready to finish with the off load when Benny got my attention. He yelled for me, took his diaper off, hung it over the side of the PNP and dropped it. I laughed, went and got J, and told him to go look at his son. He peaked in and laughed for a minute. I went in the house to get him a new diaper. I walked over to Ben and noticed the smell of poop. OH NO! He took his diaper off and then pooped?!? No. He had pooped, then took his diaper off and threw it on the porch. There was poop down his legs, all over his toys that were in there and on his hands. I pulled him out and scrubbed him down. Then busted out the disinfectant. I just threw the toys away because hey, no toy is worth that!!

No one was in shock, it was just another day with Benji.

What as that?!

Sometimes Kayla sets Ben up for a mess.

DH and I were watching TV in the family room, Kayla had cartoons on in our room and Ben was in there with her..... or so I thought.

I heard a 'splash.' I hit mute and sat for a minute. Nothing. I knew it was Ben. I peeked around the corner and saw that Kayla had left the bathroom door open after she went pee (she knows better and again, usually shuts the door).
Ben was, well he was messy. He emptied the roll of toilet paper into the toilet. Then he decided it should be emptied. He started to pull the yucky tp out of the toilet. When I went in there he came running to me, crying because he knew he was in trouble. We got him dissinfected (I think people are starting to understand why I have disinfectant alllll over the house).

It was, gross.

In the South

It rains. It rains a lot. After all, they don't get any snow here.

Benji has never really seen/felt rain. He was tiny last summer and was never 'out' in the rain. Then it snowed all winter. So he certainly doesn't remember the rain or what it is.

It rained today, a lot! It poured, then it sprinkled, then it stopped, then it rained lightly, then it poured again. We had to run to the store to get a few things. When we got there it was raining lightly. No big deal. It was almost 80 and while coming down, it wasn't pouring. I headed out with Ben in arms and Kayla by my side. Ben looked at me for a minute, then threw his hands over his head trying to block the rain! Some pilots were walking by and couldn't stop laughing. I ran inside laughing.

We came back out and Ben was in the shopping cart that DH was pushing. He threw his hands back of his head. This time he put his head down and started to cry!! I couldn't stop laughing. It wasn't a painful cry or a scream, but a 'poor me. why me?' kind of cry. It was hilarious.

We got home and when we got out of the car he again covered his head and started to pout. It was too cute. I took a picture of him to share with you guys, I'll get it posted later on.

At least if you cry in the rain no one can see you right?!

The boy is fast

We are still stuck in a tiny hotel room. Not for long, but still stuck nonetheless.

Kayla is REALLY good about 'clearing' her area after she eats. I normally don't even need to check on her area as she just cleans it up. Two nights ago I gave her a pudding cup. She ate it and went to bed. I thought she had thrown it away when she finished.

Yesterday life went on as normal. I gave the kids breakfast and then lunch. I was sitting on the couch chatting with a friend yesterday afternoon. Benny had just gotten up from his nap and was playing in the family room area (where I was). The bar/island for the kitchen is HUGE and obnoxious. The kitchen and family room are all one big room, with this huge ugly bar cutting the kitchen in 2/3. Ben was playing next to the bar, where I could see and hear him. I turned my head for I would say about 5 - 8 seconds. It was long enough for Benny! He reached up and snatched the chocolate pudding cup off the counter. He pulled out the spoon and threw it on the floor (there's now pudding on the floor), he started to dig out the putting with his fingers and eat it.

That boy was able to make a HUGE mess in just 5 seconds!!! With a pudding cup that was almost empty!

Boys......

Now what do we do?!

This morning Kayla went poo and it was huge. By huge I mean like, I don't know how her tiny body made that! So I was standing there staring at it for a minute. I turned and looked at James (who was also standing there staring it also). I said, 'You know this isn't going to go down. What are we going to do?'

The toilet here in the hotel is small and not powerful at all. Add to that, they have water pressure problems in this building too. We aren't at home, so there's no plunger.

Dh said, 'Well, flush her down! You can't leave it there!'

I said 'I know, but it wont work!' He yells back, 'Flush it anyway!'

So I flushed.

It clogged the toilet. DH calls the front desk and asks them to send the maintenance guy over to plunge the toilet. I thought, good Lord! They're going to think we're lying and that DH did it! They're never going to believe us that DD did that.

I start to dig around and I found a plunger under the sink. Great! It must work, right?!

I give it a plunge and a flush, the toilet fills up with water and I'm now yelling at it to stop and ready to jump at the water shut off valve. It stops just short of the top.

Ben is now standing next to me. We both just stood there staring at the water and each other, watching it SLOWLY go down so I can try to plunge it again. He looks up at me and back at the water. Then up at me and before I know it, he is wrist deep in poo water.

I grab him out/up from the toilet and yell for DH to come up and help. I put him in the bath and we clean him up. We then disinfect him (after all, you never can be too careful with poo water!).

The poo was out of sight, but still...... gross!

It was just another day with Ben.

Go get your brother, please

Kayla and Ben had just finished eating yesterday. I pulled Ben out of his seat and cleaned him up. Kayla and Ben were in the family room with me playing. Ben started to run in circles around the stairs, through the kitchen and back. No big deal. Then he stopped in the kitchen and stayed for about a minute. I could hear him trying to get Kayla's chicken off the table (she said she finished, but she obviously didn't) and I told her to go get him. She goes into the kitchen and says 'Oh dear! Mommy, Ben made a mess!'

I go in there and he was covered, again.... this time in ranch!! It was tiny cup of ranch and he still managed to cover himself in it (maybe he's going to be a body painter?) and the chair. He comes running to me with the cup and goes 'here!' with a big smile. I throw it away and clean him up. Clean up the chair.

DH gets back home and Ben is in his diaper. He asks where his clothes went and all I had to do was say, 'it's Ben, why do you think he isn't dressed?' He got it.

It was nothing strange, it was just another day with Ben!

Get up here now!

We are about to move to Texas. Our time in Alaska is up and the military is moving us down South.

We are staying in a hotel as our household goods are on their way to TX. Now, at home we have things 'Ben' proof. He's only allowed into a few rooms where it's safe and I can hear him if I can't see him. Well, at a hotel it's a bit more difficult. STILL there are rooms he isn't allowed into. The bathroom and our room are two (we're in a two bedroom suite).

He can go into Kayla and his room, the family room, and kitchen. We can't see Kayla's room, but it's 'Ben' proof. Sooooooo I thought.

Ben was up stairs playing with Kayla (most of the toys are up there). They were laughing and then it was quiet. After not hearing them for a few minutes, DH went up to check on them..... all I heard was 'Oh my God'. Not in a panicked voice, just a holy cow kind of a voice. He calls for me to come up there.

I round the corner and he is holding Ben, who is covered in white stuff..... every hair on his head, down to every toe on his feet. I look in the room and..... oh boy! As it turns out, DH put the brand new tube of Desitin (diaper rash cream) in Ben's bag. Ben found it (there isn't supposed to be anything but clothes and toys in that room!), tore the box open, got the tube open and then wiped it all.over.the.room. The floor length mirror, the carpet, the bedding, the furniture, his sister.... it was every where!

Ben and Kayla went straight into the bath and I got to work on the room. I got every last bit of it up, other than the carpet. I had to go rent a carpet shampooer to get it cleaned up. It comes out, but it is a pain!!

I wish I had gotten a picture of him and the room..... but after all, it was just another day with Ben.

That's not Finger Paint!!

About three weeks ago Kayla was eating dinner at the breakfast bar. Ben had finished eating and was playing in the play room (the breakfast bar was in the same area).

DH (dear husband, AKA James) and I were in the family room talking (connected to the family room, but the view is partially obstructed). We heard the kids laughing and talking to each other (well, Ben babbles). Ben came out by us and chocolate on his forehead. We weren't sure where he would have gotten it from. Kayla could have given it to him, but she's never given him anything we didn't ask her to. We cleaned him up. DH made him a cup and I took him up to get ready for bed (I was really sick and was going to lay down). DH yells upstairs for me to start the bathtub and put Ben straight in it. Fine. So I get the bath going and put Ben in. DH comes up stairs carrying DD. Strips her down and puts her in as well. I go to lay down since I was sick (I ended up in the hospital that night). DH gets the kids cleaned and Ben put to bed. Kayla is in her room, laying in bed and watching a cartoon before bed. I hear the carpet shampooer start up. DH comes in a little later to tell me this:

That wasn't chocolate on Ben's head. Kayla threw up on the bar and it rolled off right onto Ben's head (where he was playing underneath her). Ben started to laugh and then started to finger paint with it on the wall under the bar!! The two of them thought it was hilarious.

It was just another day with Benji!

Dog Poo

A few months ago we were watching a friend's dog. I let her out to go potting in the morning and she came back in. Apparently she hadn't gone poop yet.

I was cleaning up the living room and Ben came out. He spelled like poo, which I thought was weird since I'd just changed him. I changed him again, no poo. I thought maybe he was just gassy. He walked past me a minute later and again, poo! I couldn't see it anywhere! I smelled his butt, and nothing. He walked past again and I could still smell it! I looked and there was poop on his face! I freak and grab him, thinking he'd pooped and even though he was in a sleeper, had somehow managed to stick his hands in his diaper.

I check again, no poo! This time, I can still smell it and search him. It's on his hands! Where did he get this poop? I then realized, it's dog poo!

I went into the play room and there was a small pile of dog poo, with two baby hand prints in it. He saw it, grabbed it, tasted it, didn't like it and let it be.

After scrubbing him and disinfecting him (you'll notice this is a common thread), I cleaned up the floor. (we own a high end carpet cleaner for obvious reasons)

It's just another day with Ben!

Intro!

Life with our son is, an adventure! We have a daughter Kayla who is 4 and Benji is her little brother. He is almost one and a half. He is a crazy, wild, funny, child.

We call him Pigpen (like from Charlie Brown) because where ever Ben goes..... mess follows.
